How to manage adding users as project viewers in bulk

Summary

When managing a large number of users in DMC across multiple projects, it may be beneficial to add users in bulk as Project Viewers for a new project, which can be done using Groups in Keycloak. Group membership can be automated with LDAP configuration fields.

How to create and manage groups

Create the Group

1. Navigate to Keycloak in DMC and login with admin account.
2. Open left-hand menu and navigate to Manage > Groups.
3. Click the Create Group button and name the new group.

Manage Users in Group

1. In Keycloak Manage Groups, search for the new group, or select it from the list.
2. If LDAP has been configured for Keycloak, the Role mapping tab can be used to set up automated membership.
3. Users can be added individually via the Members tab and clicking Add member.
4. Groups can have child groups, and can also be added as a member to other groups.

Add Group as Project Viewer

1. Navigate back to DMC and select Project Settings from the menu.
2. Select the project from the list.
3. Select the Permissions tab.
4. Locate and select the group under Add Viewers to Project.
